All you need to know about CAT

Common Admission Test, C.A.T is a pen and paper test unlike G.M.A.T and G.R.E that are Computer Adaptive Test. "Change is the only Constant of life" same is the case in C.A.T examination still some pattern is to be followed to appear for the unseen and unheard C.A.T exam that may appear before you on third Sunday of November. So while preparing for C.A.T various things to be kept in mind are:
  • C.A.T is for testing a test takers aptitude its not knowledge.
  • You need to think differently and develop your own aptitude and pattern for attempting the question paper.
  • You need to be quick and accurate with your results.
  • Stress on developing vocab but work still harder with your reading skills.
  • C.A.T is important but not the only criteria for getting admission in a good B-school.
C.A.T is not as difficult to crack as it may appear to some neither it is easy. All you need for cracking C.A.T are your skills that can be developed only with time not overnight.

For clearing C.A.T following sections are to be stressed upon:

Aptitude:Quantitative Aptitude is the key not formula based questions because formula based questions consume more time in calculation and are not much relevant so you can skip one or two appearing in the question paper.

Thinking Differently:It is required for appearing the critical reasoning questions that appear in the test paper.

Quick & Accurate:If you have to attempt data integration part of the exam then you need to be fast and accurate. This is the part on which most student spend their maximum time but it is not always necessary to find the exact results because most of the time a range of result helps you in picking the appropriate option, so act wisely while attempting this part.

Vocab & Reading:Those days are gone when direct questions of antonym and synonym were asked in the exam. Recent test pattern shows that more stress has to be given on the reading skills as reading comprehension part shares the major part in the pie of English, also you can develop your vocab by reading not directly cramming the whole dictionary.

Group Discussion & Personal Interview:It is not only C.A.T the you need to focus on also the G.D & P.I section which most people start preparing after the C.A.T exam. For its preparation you not only need to be good in Spoken English but also need knowledge of everything happening around you. Read newspaper daily and involve your self in improving your G.K because being a manager you need to understand everything around to to search for new prospects.

Test other then C.A.T which may be necessary:
S.N.A.P, X.A.T, M.A.T, J.M.A.T
